Basic Smoothie Recipe

Your five a day can be a chore sometimes, but why not get two of them out of the way in a quick, nutritious drink? It’s so good for you!

The below version is a common treat in my house,  including belly friendly yoghurt, antioxidant rich superfood raspberries and unsung hero pineapple. Hydrating and known for it’s anti bloating properties, pineapple is a tasty addition not only to your breakfast but also to your hangover regime – a subject which I will explore more on a later date when I don’t have such a fuggy head.

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh raspberries
1/2 cup pineapple pieces
3 dessert spoons of natural yoghurt
1tsp cinnamon
Splash fruit juice or milk

Just put it all in a blender! Milk/juice should be added at the end to get the consistency you prefer, I keep it minimal as I do enjoy a smoothie at the chewier end of the scale.

Variations: So many- any soft fruit will work, strawberries, blueberries, melon. I’d avoid apples as they can give an unpleasantly grainy texture. You can leave out the cinnamon or add in honey, maple syrup, whatever you fancy. For a more filling version add a spoonful of oats or a banana.
